Night Lord's Contemptor WIP #3
So as I said before I was going to try and finish the lascannon arm for the Contemptor last night and I was successful with my deadline. Pretty pleased with how it worked out and now I just have the close combat arm to finish, then it's on to the twin assault cannons. I have some more work to do on the assault cannons, having persuaded my mother to part with some of her unused and damaged costume jewellery so I can pinch the chains for a bit of added detail.

Night Lord's Contemptor WIP #1
Morning all!
It's been a week since my last update but I have managed some work on my Night Lord's Contemptor. I was working on my vow for the Iron Without contest but I failed that miserably due to a lack of enthusiasm for the model I was painting. It was also a Dreadnought but I had done some conversion work and to be perfectly honest I was not at all happy with how it turned out.
Anyway, so far I have done the metal areas on the back and legs using Rhinox Hide as a base and a heavy dry brush of Leadbelcher. I like this method because it saves using washes to tone down the metal which also saves time and gives the metal a more worn look.

I have also worked on the blue for the torso and started filling in the details like the wings and scroll work and also some of the bronze areas. I used the same base paint for the scroll work and the skulls/helmet but I will be using different methods to stop them looking the same on the finished model.
Thanks for looking, C&C always welcome.

Night Lord's Support Unit Finished and Army So Far
I have finished my legion support squad and tried to work the effect on the Terminator's power sword into the lightning claw on the sergeant. pretty pleased with it as it is but may go back and add in some lightning patterns when my tiny brushes arrive. I've spent some time moving several miniatures around and changing some of the arms and weapons on them so I at least had a usable force as it stands.
I had been working on parts of several different units and thought this would be a better way to go about things. The two tactical squads don't have special weapons or heavy weapons at the moment but I still have the two flamers painted and am planning on getting the heavy flamers from Forgeworld for each unit. These will hopefully be magnetised so I can switch out which weapons I use.
The additional five marines for each unit are nearly built and ready to go but I first need to finish off my Atrementar Terminators before I can get back to those. I guess after that It will be a case of adding additional units to the army. Armour is something I am lacking at the moment and, continuing with the finishing things I am working on first, I will add two Rhinos to the army as my next purchases.
The Rhinos also present a problem because I may need to do a slightly different scheme so they don't end up looking like something from the movie Tron. I figure I will start them with an all over base of Kantor Blue as apposed to the normal black base coat.
Enough rambling, C&C welcome as always.

Night Lord's Librarian WIP
Evening all,
I have started my Librarian, just the armour panels and base at the moment but hope to get a fair bit more done on him over the weekend. I absolutely love this model, so much detail.

Night Lord's Vs. Dark Angels
So today I played a couple of small games against Raztalin from the B&C. I lost both games using the Chaos Codex but was a great laugh and also got a couple of pretty cool scenic pictures :)

Painting Night Lords
I have been asked by a few people how I paint my Night Lords so i have spent this morning making a quick tutorial explaining how I paint the main armour panels on each miniature.
Stage 1:
Starting with a basecoat of black primer and then painting in all the armour panels with Abaddon Black.
Stage 2:
I painted in armour all the edges of the armour with a 1/1 mix of Abaddon Black and Kantor Blue (Regal Blue is the old colour)
Stage 3:
This time I painted Kantor Blue over the areas leaving the previous colour showing towards the centre of each panel.
Stage 4:
I then washed the armour on the model with Drakenhof Nightshade (old colour is Asurman Blue). My pot is fairly old so seems to give a slight gloss effect when dry which I don't mind at all.
Stage 5:
This time I painted a 1/1 mix of Kantor Blue and Caledor sky (old colour is Enchanted Blue) over the areas as an edge highlight.
Stage 6:
This time I added Fenrisian Grey (old colour is Space Wolves Grey) as a very thin edge highlight and not letting it go to the darker parts of the model such as the inside of the legs. You can also repeat stages 5 and 6 for the lightning patterns, just adding in pure Fenrisian Grey at the points where the lightning arches and splits.

Night Lords Sergeant #3 Finished
Ok so I have finished the latest Sergeant for my Night Lords. This is one of my favourite models to date, very happy with the pose and how the loin cloth came out. I filed down the chaos markings on the Raptor chainsword so it was a little more 'plain'. The loincloth is a cast from one of the Black Templar tabards and then pushed into place with a silicon shaper.
The head is from the Chaplain Cassius model with the bottom connector removed so it fits into the MKIV torso.
I have also received my copy of Burning of Prospero, It is brilliant in my opinion. So many parts for me to play around with it's not even funny. On that note my next three marines have been assembled and are nearly ready to go.
I have a small amount of clean up to do on these and then decide whether to add a few more skulls and bits. I may not add any of those bits to these guys as they all have the flayed skin on shoulders and under the leather straps on one guy. I am really looking forward to painting MKIII terror masks.
